The use of Affiliate Marketing

As many tech-savvy people will be aware, affiliate marketing is massively popular these days and can be super effective to getting your product seen by your target audience and having trust for the product as it is being promoted by an influencer the consumers already know and trust. Having the influencer play and/or review your product for a video or livestream can help get potentially millions of wanted eyes onto what you’re trying to sell. The audience you’re marketing to are already going to be interested as they are fans of the influencer you are getting to promote the game and their engagement can go well beyond simply just watching the game, these videos, livestreams etc… can have a strong effect on getting fans to buy the game. It can also provide a deep insight into what your game is all about as the influencer can go in depth with what they show and talk about, especially if they’re passionate about the game you have given them, they can go beyond what you originally even asked for and give you more bang for your buck if they like the game enough. Sites like YouTube and Twitch are vastly popular for video and streaming content and have billions of users, millions of which actively follow gaming related influencers. It can really be the boost a game needs to get off the ground. An example of affiliate marketing came in the form of a YouTube video from the popular first-person shooter content creator known as Jackfrags, the creators of the FPS game ‘Splitgate’, 1047 Games, paid Jackfrags to make a video on their game and the use of Jackfrags’ catchy title which incorporated already popular IP names into it to grab attention “Halo and Portal had a baby to make this…” creates intrigue. The video is 7 minutes of gameplay with commentary of Jackfrags playing and promoting what the game is about, and it garnered over 150 thousand views, which no doubt led to many of those viewers going to try it out with the handy link in the description (https://youtu.be/7vJ3Lakm5Xc).
